Movin' On, Live in Manchester.

Consisting of Elijah Jenkins on vocals, George Bengree on bass and backing vocals, Scott Disley on drums and Alfie Powell on lead guitar, the four-piece indie rock band made a serious amount of noise as they headlined Off The Square, Manchester over the weekend.

With support from Willows and The Balla, the night already had the right feeling about it. Both acts got the crowd warmed up and set the bar high, but I had a feeling Movin’ On’s set was going to be a special one.

From the second they stepped on stage, there was this constant energy coming from the band. They knew exactly how to work the room, and it didn’t take long for the crowd to be completely on their side. Performing their debut single ‘Absolutely’ and newest release ‘How We Used To’, alongside a collection of unreleased tunes and even a sneaky little Blossoms cover, there was never really a quiet moment throughout the set.

Fans singing every word, cheers breaking out after every song and that weird lingering feeling of sadness as you realise the gig is slowly coming to an end, this night had pretty much every emotion running through the venue.

There’s something about watching a band in a room like Off The Square that makes the whole thing feel even more personal. Movin’ On didn’t just play a headline set, they made the crowd feel like they were part of it. Whether you knew every word or were hearing some of their unreleased tracks for the first time, nobody looked like they wanted to be anywhere else.

By the time the final song came around, it was clear the band had left everything on that stage. The kind of gig where you walk out already wanting to see them again, and with Movin’ On still having plenty more music to come, I don’t think it’ll be long before they’re filling much bigger rooms.
